About
From 2016 to 2020, I designed educational technology as a Senior UX Designer at W. W. Norton and Company.
My primary users were college and high school instructors and students. At Norton, all our designs were based on research—by conducting usability testing, advocating for users’ needs, and iterating based on findings. I led design workshops and integrated research methods throughout product development. I also worked closely with our partner teams, in an agile workflow, to create interfaces that are fully responsive, visually compelling, and accessible to all. For all the projects listed below, we worked collaboratively in UX teams of two to three designers, from initial discovery through visual design and development.
Projects
In 2019, I led the design of Norton Testmaker — an easy way for instructors to create assessments. I also helped spearhead the Norton Design System, building modular UI components based on atomic design principles, for more consistent and accessible implementation across products.
In 2018, I designed course and grade management platforms to help instructors customize their courses, assign content, assess their students’ performance, and integrate with learning management systems.
In 2017, I designed an application for instructors to weave readings, assessment, and media together, and for students to access everything they need to complete their homework, all in one place.
And in 2016, I designed internal tools for authors and editors to efficiently create content and navigate complex workflows.
